I am currently in my third year as the principal of Conrad Ball Middle School in Loveland, Colorado. Prior to coming to CBMS, I spent three years as an assistant principal at Loveland High School and two years as an assistant principal at Greeley West High School. I spent the first 9 years of my professional career in the Broward County School District in South Florida serving as an assistant principal, technology coordinator, and a teacher of math, statistics, and physics.
From 2000 to 2002, I took a leave of absence from my teaching position to explore the private sector where I worked as a Data Quality Specialist for Deloitte & Touche LLP. It was a great experience to travel the country and lend my assistance and expertise to major corporations. I also learned the basics of database design and normalization, as well as how to program SAS and SQL. Eventually, though, the travel got old and I missed education. I wouldn’t have missed the opportunity to gain the business insight and experience D&T gave me, but it was time to start a family and I wanted to know my kids.
I recently completed my Ph.D in Educational Leadership at Colorado State University. In July of 2009, I was one of 52 educators in the US to be honored as an Apple Distinguished Educator.
I have been married to my beautiful wife for 14 years. She currently works as a fifth grade teacher. We have two kids, an 8-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter.
